McKesson is a diversified, publicly-traded pharmaceuticals and healthcare company. As its employee expectations began to change, the global firm embarked on a project to deliver information and services to its workforce via an innovative native mobile app experience.
So, McKesson was on a mission: Find a simple solution to replace the current Salesforce mobile app with a modern one. Ideally, the new app would unify employee services from its SharePoint portal, and deliver personalized content and push notifications to the McKesson workforce — making for an engaging employee experience.
Senior McKesson Engineer Scott Byrge faced a buy vs. build decision for this new employee app — and the solutions at his disposal were not ideal. Initially he tried .NET MAUI to build a wrapper application that bridged to SharePoint, but found it was more work than simply using Median.co.
Median made the decision easier for McKesson based on its proven architecture and capabilities with SharePoint, push notifications, and other premium integrations.
Median provides all the functionality of our SharePoint platform within a native app. We would not have been able to build such a sophisticated native app ourselves.
Built with Median.co, McKesson’s scalable pilot app was successfully delivered to more than 19,000 employees. When the pilot rolls out as a company-wide app, the number of users is expected to double — and this enterprise-level app is ready for it.
I would recommend Median to other enterprises. If you have a SharePoint portal, this is a very cost-effective way to deploy native applications—and deliver services competitive with something like the Salesforce mobile app.
